"Indian Connect-a-thon 2016"

Healthcare is an important subject for all of us the world over. Technology has been playing a crucial role by inventing devices and developing equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Of late, Information Technology has been wrapping them all together with a concept called interoperability - allowing disparate systems to communicate and interact with each other. This weekend, a bunch of us are getting together to conduct the first ever show in India of how interoperability works. 14 leading vendors are taking part in what we call as "Indian Connect-a-thon 2016"

As Chairman of the Organising Committee and on behalf of all the members, I welcome you to come visit us on May 22 at the Unit of Hope Building at the campus of St. John's Hospital in Bangalore. This event will showcase for you and your teams, the capabilities of interoperable systems in a very simple workflow. The seamless movement of data transforming to useful information for the right pair of eyes will bring out the power of technology serving in the background.

The event will make a case for adoption of standards-based software across platforms and devices, over organisational boundaries in order to advance effective health care delivery for all communities of people in India. This is conducted under the auspices of Indian Association of Medical Informatics (IAMI) Bengaluru, co-convened by HL7. It is an initiative propelled by the coming together of various individuals in the healthcare community in India. At the venue, you will meet other like-minded stakeholders with whom you will be able to interact. We welcome you to be part of this movement. Looking forward to seeing you all.

India’s villages are crying out for doctors. This startup takes cardiologists to them

By: Kylee McIntyre | Tags: TECHINASIA

“They say if the patient can get out the door of his home at the first sign of a heart attack and come to the hospital within two hours, they can save his heart. That’s a promise hospitals give,” says Manick Rajendran, co-founder of iMMi Life.

The problem is that by the time most heart attack patients step out of their homes, they’ve already waited too long since the onset of the first symptom. The average person doesn’t leave for the hospital until 300 minutes after experiencing the first symptom. The roughly 60-120 minute time window is also known as the Golden Hour, because if treated during this time, the heart doesn’t suffer possibly irreversible damage or muscle death. [...]
